Dr. John Ichishita is known for his easygoing approach and for making even complex eye care feel approachable. He grew up on the north side of Chicago and went on to attend the University of Illinois before earning his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry, where he graduated cum laude. He later completed a residency in ocular disease at the VA Hospital in West Virginia.
With more than a decade of experience, Dr. Ichishita enjoys working in ocular diseases, helping patients understand what’s going on with their eyes and taking steps to treat or prevent issues before they progress. He finds it incredibly rewarding to make a real difference in people’s lives.
Patients appreciate his calm, thorough approach and his willingness to take the time to explain things clearly without overcomplicating them. He believes good care starts with listening and making sure every patient feels comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Outside the office, Dr. Ichishita enjoys spending time with his wife and their two young children. When he can, he stays active with tennis, rock climbing, hiking, and enjoys winding down with a good book or a board game.
